Charity Events
Charitable events are an important aspect of community unity and a great way of helping those in times of need. We host Charity Tuesdays where everyone gathers to create beautiful handmade items for different causes. Ryan’s Case for Smiles is an organization that sews pillowcases for sick children in local hospitals. Want to sew pillowcases, but don’t have the time to come to an event? No problem! The Pin Cushion is an official pillowcase drop-off site for Ryan’s Case for Smiles. Instructions for sewing pillowcases can be found here. For more information on Ryan's Case for Smiles, visit www.caseforsmiles.org.
Other classes have sewn quilts for babies, tweens, and those in-between ages. “Quilts of Honor” is also a part of our Charity Tuesdays. For this event, quilts are made and delivered to veterans staying at the VA Memorial Home in Vineland. The shop carries many different fabrics that showcase our armed services and patriotic themes.
Additional non-profit organizations that we’ve worked with are The American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life, Project Linus, and Pillows for Paws. We hosted a “Paint and Pour” class to raise funds for a Relay for Life team. Project Linus is a yearly event held at Memorial School in Vineland. Students and parents help make fleece blankets to be donated to local homeless shelters. Pillows for Paws creates toys and beds for local shelter animals. These comfort items play a crucial role in promoting emotional well-being, assisting in behavioral issues, and ultimately, increasing the animals’ adoptability. Interested in hosting an event?
